Former Lowville Academy teacher remembered after deaths in Rome
A former Lowville Academy English teacher is being remembered by former students after she and her husband were allegedly killed in Rome on Aug. 7.
By the ClickNNY North Country Desk
Donna Walker-Sislo, who taught English at Lowville Academy during the 1970s and 1980s, is being remembered by former students after she and her husband, Steve, were allegedly shot and killed at their Rome home on Aug. 7. Their son, Justin, allegedly shot himself afterward.
Former students also recalled that Walker-Sislo’s time at Lowville ended after she missed work for her honeymoon, and that students protested her firing with a walkout. The former students described her as a teacher who made a lasting impression on them.
