North Syracuse man faces federal child exploitation charges, officials say
Matthew Flandera of North Syracuse is accused in a federal complaint of possessing more than 350 child sexual abuse files and remains in custody pending a detention hearing.
By the ClickNNY North Country Desk
Matthew Flandera of North Syracuse faces federal charges alleging that he possessed more than 350 files depicting child sexual abuse, including images and videos involving children younger than 16, according to a federal criminal complaint.
The complaint alleges that the files were obtained through encrypted digital storage and found on a chat-messaging service. Flandera, who was previously convicted in a 2012 child pornography case and registered as a Level 1 sex offender, remains in the Cayuga County Jail pending a detention hearing. The charges are allegations, and the complaint does not establish guilt.
