Watertown’s boys soccer team advanced in the Section III Class AA playoffs Thursday with a 3-0 win over Oswego at its home field next to Case Middle School. The victory gave the second-seeded Cyclones a school-record 14 shutouts this season.
Maceo Lucidi scored in the 25th minute and assisted on Brandon Rosso’s goal in the 75th. Teagan Buckley scored in the 55th minute on a feed from Carter Pistner. Norman Cushman made five saves in goal for Watertown.
Watertown improved to 17-0. The Cyclones have allowed three goals this season, and their 14 shutouts surpassed the previous program record of 13, set last year. Cushman also recorded his 37th varsity shutout over three seasons, a program record.
Watertown entered the tournament as the No. 2 Class AA seed after finishing the Frontier League season 10-0 without allowing a league goal. The Cyclones were ranked No. 1 in the state in Class AA and reached a sectional semifinal last season.
Watertown is scheduled to play Monday, Oct. 26, at Central Square. The listed time is 7:30 p.m., with the opponent determined by the quarterfinal between Auburn/Fayetteville-Manlius and Nottingham. The Section III Class AA final is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 29, at 5 p.m. at Fulton High School. The team that advances through sectionals could continue to the state tournament.
