The Jefferson County SPCA has reopened its Petco Adoption Center in Watertown after a temporary closure. The center is again welcoming people interested in meeting cats, kittens and small animals available for adoption.
The SPCA thanked the community for its patience during the temporary changes and said cats and kittens are available at the Petco location again.
The center closed Oct. 6 after recent cases of feline panleukopenia among cats in the SPCA’s care. The organization later said the Petco center would be closed Oct. 12 because no animals were available there. The main shelter’s cat wing also remained closed while staff managed an ongoing panleukopenia outbreak.
The Petco Adoption Center is at 21851 Towne Center Dr. in Watertown. Prospective adopters can view available animals and submit an application online through the Jefferson County SPCA website before visiting. The SPCA can be reached at (315) 782-3260; Petco is extension 2.
