Massena Central School District has added Officer Shawn Hatch as its second school resource officer, beginning Sept. 1, 2026. The district already has Juvenile Officer Michael Flynn serving as an SRO.
The Massena Police Department is canvassing for an officer to fill the vacancy created by Hatch’s appointment. Police said applicants who recently took the civil service test, as well as current officers interested in joining the department, may contact Chief Cody Wilson by phone or email.
Village trustees and school board members approved the agreement after discussions about the position’s cost and contract language. The agreement covers Sept. 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, with the district paying the village the prorated salary and benefits, excluding overtime, up to $152,662.
