Two St. Lawrence County churches will accept gift-filled shoeboxes Nov. 16-23 as part of Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse project serving children in need around the world.
Victory Baptist Church, 601 State Highway 11C in Winthrop, will accept boxes from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, Nov. 16-20; 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 21; noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22; and 7 to 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23.
New Life Assembly of God, 929 Park St. in Ogdensburg, will accept boxes from 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 16-20; 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 21; noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 22; and 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 23.
Operation Christmas Child asks individuals, families and groups to fill shoeboxes with items such as toys, school supplies and personal-care products. Samaritan’s Purse says the project has collected and delivered boxes since 1993 to children affected by poverty, war, disease and natural disasters.
The organization says it delivered more than 244 million boxes in more than 175 countries. It aims to reach 12.8 million children in 2026. Samaritan’s Purse works with churches in recipient countries to distribute the gifts and share the Christian message of Christmas.
Donors may give $10 per box through the project’s Follow Your Box program to receive a tracking label and learn where the gift is sent. Packing information and label options are available through Operation Christmas Child.
National Collection Week runs from Nov. 16-23, 2026, with drop-off locations across the United States and Puerto Rico. People should check the Samaritan’s Purse drop-off locator for current site information and hours. New Life Assembly of God can be reached at 315-713-4737 to confirm its collection times.
