SUNY Potsdam will host its free, public LoKo Arts Festival of Lights on Saturday, Oct. 24, on the Academic Quad. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and serve as the culminating public event for the launch of Deeply Rooted, Future Focused: The Campaign for Potsdam.
The college says the festival will include illuminated art installations, live music by the rock cover band SFM and hands-on activities. A drone show is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Satterlee Hall, the Academic Quad and Minerva Plaza will feature architectural lighting, illuminated trees and glowing artwork. Other activities are planned, including glow-in-the-dark mini golf, dancers in glowing wings and a tent where visitors can make illuminated designs. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including a cash bar in a warming room at the Gibson Gallery.
The event is part of LoKo Arts, which began in 2012 as a spring arts festival and has since become a year-round initiative. The 2026-27 academic year marks the initiative's 15th anniversary. SUNY Potsdam has described the campaign launch as the largest fundraising effort in the college's history.
Parking is recommended in Lots 1, 11 and 12. Visitors may bring camp chairs or picnic blankets. Free registration is optional through SUNY Potsdam's GiveCampus page. Event details are available on the college's Festival of Lights page. Questions may be directed to Haley Billings at billinhe@potsdam.edu or 315-267-3763.
The college's annual LoKo Arts Festival is scheduled for April 27 through May 2, 2027.
