Rep. Claudia L. Tenney, R-Cleveland, is backing bipartisan legislation aimed at changing how Medicare payments to emergency medical services providers are set.
The RESCUE Act would require the federal agency overseeing Medicare to update its fee schedule every three years so payments reflect the costs of caring for patients. The legislation follows more than 20 years without a change to the rates, while ambulance companies and nonprofit EMS organizations have reported financial strain.
